Welsh Churches and Chapels Collection
Photographs of and background information on over 300 churches and chapels in Wales.
Personal note from John Ball
Since moving to Wales nearly forty years ago, I have taken literally tens of thousands of photographs of urban and rural subjects using both digital and film cameras. Many of these photographs have been featured on my 'Images of Wales' webpages, but many have not. Additionally, various individuals have kindly sent me their own photographs of Welsh churches and chapels so I now have high quality photos of well over 300 Welsh churches and chapels, located mainly in south, west, and central Wales. The collection has not previously been accessible on my website. At present, my collection represents only a small fraction of the total number of places of worship in these areas, but the collection is continually expanding.
Present status: 331 out of 364 webpages completed.
I am always happy to receive offers of good quality digital images from other photographers.
My Welsh Churches and Chapels Collection is making all these photographs available on the Web. Each place of worship added to the collection has its own dedicated individual webpage on which are displayed one or more photographs of the subject, together with relevant background and historical information, and/or links to such information.
To explore the collection, first click on the BROWSE button (above and below). Then access the collection via the index, sorted alphabetically on locations. The index provides direct links to each of the individual webpages and photographs.
Working alphabetically through the locations, I began creating the individual webpages in January 2007, and will continue until the entire collection has been uploaded.
(Currently working mainly on subjects whose place-name begins with S)
